Decorating for Christmas is one of those activities that come around every year whether you want it to or not.  Unfortunately many people end up dreading the act of decorating for the holidays because they are sick of the same old thing, and because of the stress it brings them by trying to get everything done on time.  You can save time and easily find Christmas decorations online!  The time you spend decorating for the holidays does not have to be a stressful or dreaded time; with a few simple ideas it can be a lot of fun and very rewarding.

Have you ever felt that your living room is the focal point for all things Christmas when the season rolls around?  This is because the Christmas tree itself usually resides in the living room making it the obvious choice for all of the other decorations.  With a little bit of creativity and a few themes this does not have to be the case.  When you look at the Christmas decorations you see all of the Christmas tree options.  Artificial trees come in just about every size from a two-foot tree all the way to a fifteen-foot monster!  Based on these wide choices, why not add more Christmas trees to your home?

Setting up the Christmas tree is by far one of the most joyous activities during the holidays, so imagine doing it two, three, maybe even four times!  If you have a traditional six to eight foot artificial tree in your living room why not buy a few two-foot trees and maybe even a four-foot tree.  You can add these trees to your kitchen, dining room, and even your bathroom!  The fun comes in by giving each tree its own theme.  This gives you a creative outlet and creates a challenge for finding the perfect decorations.  For example, if you have a tropical themed bathroom, decorate a two-foot tree with seashells, white lights, and pearls (fake of course!) for garland.  Doing this will help you to spread Christmas merriment throughout your home and will give your decorating style a very original feel.

Garland: Traditional and One of a Kind

 Everyone has seen garland draped from one end of a home to the other around Christmas time, maybe even your own home, so you may be wondering how on earth can you make it fun and different. The fact is, is that just like with your Christmas tree, the options for decorating your home with garland are endless.  To begin with try and think of one thing you receive around the holidays in abundance. You can rule out fruitcakes and those high electric bills from all of the Christmas lights.  How about Christmas cards?  That’s right; Christmas cards are an amazing resource for decorating, especially for making garland.  If you think about all of the Christmas cards you have received over the years there were probably quite a few that you instantly loved.

 Christmas card designs range from amazing winter scenes to snowmen and photos of your friends and family.  If you are anything like the rest of the world you probably do not always know where to place all of the cards, especially since you want everyone to be able to see them.  This is what you can do.  Go out to your local craft store and purchase some elegant and durable ribbon, the color and the style are completely up to you.  You will also need a hole punch so make sure you have one.  As your Christmas cards come in you can add them to your garland.

You will create your garland by taking the card and choosing how you wish to display it.  The cover can be cut from the message inside or you can use the entire card.  No matter what you choose, take the hole punch and punch a hole in the top corner of the card, on the fold.  Now you simply string the ribbon through the hole, and as you get new cards in the mail you can keep adding to the garland.  The weight of the cards will give the garland a dipped look, which adds a bit of Christmas cheer.  Once you have a lengthy piece of garland you can place it anywhere, such as around doorways, around your mantle, or down your stairway.

 There are also ways to add a unique touch to traditional garland.  Are you someone who year after year takes the big pine bough garland and drapes it from one end of the stairway to the other?  If you are sick of the humdrum look of the plain green consider adding a few embellishments to it, which will be easier than you think.  Place personalized Christmas ornaments in places that display your unique style. Go to the craft store and buy a few separate fake poinsettia flowers and sprigs of holly.  You can place these throughout the garland by simply wrapping the wire for easy removal if you wish.  This will add some color to your garland and will not be hard to complete.

These ideas may not be the most grandiose ideas out there but they will certainly give your home a holiday atmosphere without driving you crazy with stress.  Believe it or not though there are actually a few other ideas for decorating your home for Christmas without having to hardly lift a finger.  Simple things such as providing Christmas candy for your guests like candy canes, peppermints, and even fudge can really add that special holiday touch.  Placing Christmas tree ornaments around the home in vases and decorative bowls also gives off a special holiday glimmer.  Remember to let your imagination run wild when decorating for the holidays; these ideas do not have to be the end of the road.  Take these ideas and take them one step further to ensure your best holiday season yet.
