Personalized Christmas Ornaments Solve Holiday Shopping Woes!

“No, Mom, I don’t know what to get...Well, maybe if he hadn’t run off and eloped I would’ve had time to get to know her a little better.” Brigette—who had always prided herself on her ability to select thoughtful gifts—was on the phone with her mother franticly trying to think of something to get her new sister-in-law for Christmas. When her mother suggested that she look into personalized Christmas ornaments, Brigette was intrigued but still worried.

“Where am I going to get something like that? It’s the second week of December. I’m running out of time,” Brigette said into the receiver.

“Brigette, for Heaven’s sake, I thought you young people were all so tech-savvy, came her mother’s reply over the phone. “Just go online, honey. I’m sure you’ll find something. There are probably hundreds of websites that offer personalized Christmas gifts”

“What do you mean, like Christmas tree ornaments, or something?” Brigette asked. “Isn’t that kind of a lame gift?”

“Well, Brigette, everyone has a Christmas tree. And Christmas trees require Christmas tree ornaments, don’t they?” Brigette’s mother encouraged her. “And it’s not a ‘lame gift’ at all. Unique Christmas ornaments are a way to give something personal and thoughtful to someone you don’t know very well.” "Why don't you try the Ornament Shop?"

“So, what kind of personalized ornaments should I be looking at? Really, I don’t know anything about this woman, Mom."

“Oh, you know more than you think,” Brigette’s mother coached. Let’s see, she’s a lawyer, she’s Catholic, she has a cat, she plays the cello, her birthday is in September and she’s just gotten married. That should give you a lot to work with.”

“All right, Mom. I’ll give it a shot, but I still wish my brother hadn’t eloped.”

“Well, we all wish that, sweetheart. Talk to you soon.”

Brigette hung up the phone and went into her den where she sat down at the computer and opened her web browser. A quick Internet search proved her mother right. Personalized ornaments relating to every characteristic her mother had mentioned were available. Most could be shipped quickly, and she felt like the prices were lower than what she would find in a store.

First, Brigette looked at engraved Christmas ornaments and glass Christmas ornaments, but she quickly decided that she didn’t want anything that formal. This woman had skipped out on having a formal wedding with her brother. Clearly, formal was not her style.

After looking at birthstone, cello, cat, religious and career-themed Christmas tree ornaments, she finally decided to get a personalized ornament commemorating her brother and sister-in-law’s marriage. The ornament she ultimately chose featured a bride and groom standing beneath an arch, and she was able to have her brother and sister-in-law’s names and wedding date added.

Although there had certainly been no wedding arch involved—no wedding at all for that matter—in her brother’s nuptials, Brigette felt confident that this was a thoughtful Christmas gift that would make her new sister-in-law feel accepted into the family.

She was so pleased with her purchase that she had to call her mother right back to tell her all about it.

“Well, I told you personalized holiday ornaments weren’t ‘lame,’” her mother said.
